It was a wonderful event where John Myatt showcased a selection of his works beautifully curated by Jess at Castle Fine Art. It offered an insight into the world of Genuine Fakes by John Myatt, what he did, why he did it and where he is today. An extraordinary talent that needs to be seen, to be believed.

Some of the art that was on show will be in the upcoming feature film. The film Genuine Fakes is shooting in February next year and is set to be released later in cinemas and will star Colin Morgan, Peter Firth, Tara Fitzgerald, Alex Kingston, and Leon Herbert with additional cast to be confirmed soon.

GENUINE FAKES charts the never before true story of how two very different men meet in the strangest of circumstances and proceed to mastermind possibly the largest art fraud of the twentieth century.

Told from the perspective of a struggling art teacher, whose artistic creations using household emulsion and KY Jelly came to fool the art elite. We see the moral dilemma of a man who has to care for his two children following the collapse of his marriage, but who also desires the finer things in life opened up to him by a charismatic but wholly unscrupulous patron of the arts.

The result was the criminal penetration of the art world from within a plan designed to achieve the perfect fraud, which saw hundreds of fake paintings, allegedly by well-known artists such as Monet, Vermeer and Chagall, ending up in museums and collections around the planet. Many remain there to this day.

All the art in the film will be created by the artist. The book is now published in paperback and is also available as an eBook on Kindle and google play. The book Genuine fakes has been written by Author, Rosemary Myatt, she signed paperback copies at the event.

“Just read Genuine Fake the book, I could not stop reading it, the pages flowed so quickly. I would recommend anyone who has not read this book to get a copy”USA Chicago. Mr G. Clarke.

A huge thank you to the team at Castle Fine Art from all of us at Green Eye Productions Academy.

Introduction

Welcome to the first newsletter of 2021. I hope you had a good Christmas and New year.
I feel I must start by letting you all know that we have taken the decision to pause the filming of “Genuine Fakes”. The decision was made when we realised new lockdown measures were coming into effect. For us, the safety of our people is the most important thing and always will be. As soon as we get going again then I will update you.

Getting to know the team

This month I interviewed Julie Daly-Wallman who is our CEO and the Producer of “Genuine Fakes” and I asked her some fun questions to help you get to know the person behind the job title.

Q1: What lead you to this career?
A: After a tough start in life my sister and I used to go to the matinee performance at the cinema every week to escape the world. So from the age of 6 I wanted to work in films. I used to sit and watch the credits and think I want to see my name up there too.

Q2: Who has been the biggest influence in your career and why?
A: I have four people who have been there for me and influence me everyday. Lara my twin sister for putting up with me, Rosemary Myatt for being my absolute rock, Andrew Smith at Pinewood for being a saint, and Gem for being my propper upper.

Q3: What do you do to turn things around when you are having a bad day?
A: I go for a walk to clear my head. But I also remember how lucky and blessed I am.

Q4: Whats a trip that changed you and why?
A: Going to America where I worked and stayed with the legendary Marlon Brando. Whilst there he gave me his time and also the belief in myself.

Q5: Name one thing most people don’t know about you?
A: That I come from a poor background, this made me ashamed. But now I realise it’s given me this career and also the opportunity to build GEPA and help other people by giving them opportunities.

GEPA News

Onto other news now. We have had a few sales of products from our online shop, so obviously we are delighted. If you have a query about any of the product’s, please contact us on the email link provided.
Some other members of the team are busy training whilst they are on furlough to add diversity and the opportunity to grow in all areas of the business. However, there is still a lot of work going on behind the scenes, so that when we get the green light, we are ready to go.

Quote of the month

As Charles Darwin once said.

“It is not the strongest of the species who survive,
nor the most intelligent who survives.
It is the one that is most adaptable to change.”

Stay safe and keep dreaming!
Gemma

Hello and welcome to the Green Eye Productions Academy Newsletter.

My name is Gemma and I will be doing monthly newsletters on here with special appearances from other members of the team and maybe even a cast member now and again.

Well where to start. I guess the beginning. GEPA and it’s team started working together in January 2020 and since then we have faced many a trial and tribulation. Mainly in the form of a global pandemic. Our first feature “Genuine Fakes” has had to put back filming. But don’t fear we will be shooting in Staffordshire next month.

Now I have been doing these newsletters for the team since the first lockdown began back in March. One of the things I did was a “Get to know you” section. So here is mine.  I will post someone else’s in next months. So without further ado here are the questions that the other team members asked me:

1) what lead you to this career?

Well I worked in HR anyway, but what lead me to GEPA was sitting next to Julie on a flight. And as the saying goes rest is history.

2) Before becoming involved with GEPA, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?

I was an equine nurse. I guess it’s why I set up the equine massage business. No case is the same.

3) What is  one thing that has surprised you about working at GEPA ?

The team. Everyone is so passionate. And that’s because of the Wonder Woman we have at the helm!

4)If you won a million pounds, what would you do with the money?

This is cliche… but I would do the usual things. Travel, treat my family and friends. Then it’s always been a dream to set up a charity for endangered animals in Africa. My dad spent a lot of his childhood in Zimbabwe and saw the elephants and rhinos basically in his garden and the thought of the next generations only getting to read about these beautiful creatures saddens me. And of course I would invest into GEPA and get the tax relief 😂😂

5)What’s one thing that can instantly make your day better?

My animals as they love me unconditionally. No matter how I am feeling they always do something that makes me smile.

6)Have your ever disliked something and then changed your mind?

Beetroot! Who knew it could be so versatile?!

7)Are you more of a “work to live” or a “live to work” type of person?

Reckon most of you know the answer but I live to work.

8)Who is your hero?

My hero isn’t anyone you will know. It is my best friend Gill. Gill lost her battle with cancer 4yrs ago. But her positivity throughout and the fact she always looked on the bright side even faced with mortality was truly inspiring. So for that reason she is my hero.

9)If you could live anywhere where would it be?

I love living where I do now which is by the sea. But I guess wherever I am happy. For me the people are as important as the place.

10)What makes you angry?

It takes an awful lot to make me angry, however Animal cruelty and prejudice really make my blood boil!

I will leave you now with a quote of the month. I hope you have enjoyed the first introduction to the GEPA Newsletter.

Thanks for reading!
